Abstract Single crystals of the two alkali metal zinc oxidotellurates(IV), Rb 2 Zn(TeO 3 )(CO )·H O and Na Zn Te 4 11 , were obtained by reactions mixtures ZnO, TeO CO (molar ratios 2:3:6) 2:3:10), respectively, with small amounts water as a mineralizer. Both compounds crystallize order-disorder (OD) structures layers feature high stacking fault probability. The crystal structure is composed extending parallel to (100). kinds non-polar OD consisting trigonal-pyramidal [TeO ] 2− tetrahedral [ZnO 6− Rb1 + H O, Rb2 respectively. Different centrings layer groups lead an ambiguity in arrangement. built from (001). Trigonal-pyramidal bisphenoidal 4− polyhedra form [Te groups, which are connected longer Te–O-contacts 1 ∞ 8 22 12− double chains oriented along either [100] or [010]. These layers, appear alternatingly orientations related fourfold rotoinversion. 2+ cations located at interface. due different lattices adjacent layers.
